XUK summer camp staff information and FAQs

Thursday 2nd July – Sunday 9th August.
(new staff must work at least the first two weeks – until 19th July)

You must be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Please read important information on XUK’s Safeguarding Policy which is front and centre of everything we do.

Additionally you must be able to:

  • Be 18 years old or older on the first day of camp
  • Work under pressure
  • Be resiliant! Working at camp is hard and you need to be able to work through harder days when you may be tired or things have nt gone perfectly for you!
  • Successfully interact and communicate with children and parents
  • Work within a team, collaborating & supporting colleagues
  • Follow written procedures correctly
  • Think on your feet and adapt to difficult situations

The following qualities/achievements are desirable:

Proven experience & a passion for working with children

Qualifications (which must be valid and certified with original documents) include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching (PGCE/ QTS etc.)
  • First Aid/ Paediatric First Aid
  • EFL (e.g.: TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, DELTA)
  • Management
  • Specific activity coaching awards (Sport, Dance, Art, Drama, Cookery)
  • Nurses or healthcare professionals

Training and Induction

We provide a 3 day training and induction programme which covers:

  • Team Building
  • Safeguarding
  • Behaviour Management
  • Planning & running safe and fun activities

While the training that we offer is thorough and detailed, the job involves being thrown in at the deep end. Please consider this when applying.

Time Off

Every member of staff is entitled to a weekly 24 hour period off per week. For special occasions (such as weddings / graduations) sometimes we can agree a 48 hour period over 2 weeks.

Team work

Our camps have been running successfully since 1996. This is a result of the staff working together. Please only apply if you can be a positive addition to a team who can take instruction, has proved resilience and wants XUK and the campers to succeed.

You will earn no less than £690 per week (for 2-5 weeks). If you have specific qualifications or take up a position of responsibility at the camp your pay could rise.

The pay includes…

  • Accommodation for the full duration of your contract
  • 3 meals a day for the full duration of your contract
  • Optional transport to and from camp (from our London pick up point)
