If you haven't been before, now is the time to come to summer camp

The development of technology continues to accelerate around us. Children are struggling to focus at school and have difficulty communicating. Is technology to blame for the increase of socially challenged kids? How can we teach our child the skills they are missing out on because most of their social time is now spent staring at a screen? The answer: send them to a summer camp!

Get your children booked onto a summer camp so they can take full advantage of an out of school learning environment. A place where they learn life skills. Every summer camp has a very special community where kids and teenagers come together to have fun. Whilst having fun, they are also improving social skills. Today's children are outstanding communicators when it comes to texting and exchanging dialogue on social media, but how many of them can communicate successfully face to face or deliver a speech to an audience? Our camps will give them the opportunity to be surrounded by like minded peers every day where conversation naturally slows. Lots of campers will also have the chance to speak in front of large groups during some of our Evening Activities.

Stepping away from video games to a summer camp provides our campers with new adventures every summer. From trying new activities to visiting new towns and cities, our campers get to see more of the world, beyond their screen. Whilst they embark on their adventures, XUK campers are also developing their independence skills as Mum and Dad aren’t right behind them to pick up the pieces whether that’s helping them tidy their dormitory or resolving a little conflict between dorm friends.

We are very fortunate that all three of our residential camps boast amazing grounds and facilities. Our campers have ample opportunities to be physically active every day. With 1 in 3 eleven-year olds being obese in the UK (Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health), it is more important than ever before to get up and be active this summer. Every day at camp we run a whole range of structured activities but also give our campers free time. It is the perfect occasion for our campers to have unstructured play, without our staff team giving them direction on what to do. Whether they fancy a game of football or a role play for our younger campers, we encourage it. In this increasingly competitive world, we need to give our children time to be children and that is why we have several hours set a side each day where our children can make their own fun (of course our staff are there to supervise and lend a hand if they are stuck for ideas in what to do).

So what are you waiting for? Get your children enrolled into summer camp today! Still not convinced? Here are 5 things that are better (yeah right) than spending your summer at XUK Camps and find out why XUK campers are resilient...
