What’s the difference between our residential camps

We have three residential camps and families often ask us “which camp is the best?” They are all the best in their own unique way and it very much depends on what you are looking for. If a family calls the office and is undecided on which summer camp to book, we will ask a series of questions to find out exactly what the family is looking for – an English school, an activity camp or a mixture of both? Do they want their children to have an ‘all-rounder’ experience or be able to choose every activity they do? Here are some similarities and differences between our camps to help you decide:

Similarities

As all our camps come under the XUK Camps umbrella, there are lots of similarities between them.

Afternoon Choice sessions – all of our campers at all three camps have the opportunity to choose their afternoon activities from a vast range including different sports, drama & dance workshops, yoga and crafts

Evening Activities – our fabulous Evening Activities are ran in very similar way at all three of our camps and every week ends with our famous Saturday night Talent Show & Disco!

Weekly whole camp sightseeing and shopping trip – the locations vary between camps but all of our campers have a chance to get off camp each week, soak up the British culture and do a bit of shopping

Citizen of the Week/Star Student Award – every week our staff nominate and vote for the camper who they feel was the best ‘citizen’ or ‘student’ at our camp

Differences

And here are the differences:

Morning sessions – this is the main difference between the operational side of our camps. A morning at XUK Activity involves following a timetable to get an ‘all-rounder’ experience from Raft Building to Indian Dance and Tie Dye T-Shirts to Rugby. At our English summer school, all of our campers participate in their English lessons in the morning. These are delivered in a fun and engaging way so our campers don’t even realise they’re learning because they are having so much fun! And XUK Excel runs it’s electives during the mornings – campers choose either Creative Arts, Media, Sport or Water & Forest Adventure at the time of booking

Dormitory size – our dormitories come in different shapes and sizes at all our camps. All campers attending XUK Activity will be sharing dormitories whereas at XUK Excel and XUK English we have both shared and individual rooms

Optional Extras – you might want to add on extra trips for your children e.g. Theme Park or Horse Riding. These are available to our campers at XUK Activity & XUK English

Locations – our camps are on different sides of the UK! XUK English is based in the East of England in Ipswich and XUK Activity and XUK Excel are in the west in Worcestershire and Monmouth

Facilities – all of our camps are ran from top UK boarding schools, boasting great facilities from a lake and woodland area at XUK Activity, state of the art classrooms and sports hall at XUK English and a 500 seat theatre and multi weather pitch at XUK Excel, your children will be in for a treat!

Still confused or undecided? Have a look at our compare the camps page or give us a call and we can talk you through the options and work out which camp is best for your children!
