Another 'OUTSTANDING' for Mini Minors Day Camp

We are delighted to share with you that during the summer we had an OFSTED inspection at our day camp, Mini Minors and we received an ‘Outstanding’. On the 9th August 2019, we had the pleasure of showing the inspector, Anna Hindhaugh-Feldman around Mini Minors to see our campers in action. The inspector had a full tour of the camp, observed lots of activities and had lots of conversations with staff, campers and parents. She also had a look through our policies and procedures and checked our staff are suitably qualified. Here are some highlights from the report:

  • “Children's independence is promoted at all times. As a result, children are extremely confident and access the environment with enthusiasm.”

A comprehensive recruitment procedure ensures we have suitable staff in place.

  • “Staff go through a comprehensive induction process and have regular supervision meetings. This helps to ensure staff are excellently supported in their role, which in turn has a positive impact on children's welfare and safety.”

The inspector also recognised our knowledge of the EYFS.

  • “The management team and staff have an outstanding knowledge of the early years foundation stage and an excellent understanding of how children learn best through play.”
  • “Staff are superb role models and skilfully encourage interaction and social conversations that help children to make very secure friendships.”

Our wide variety of activities on offer was commented on by the inspector.

  • “Children move between indoor and outdoor play seamlessly. They participate in yoga, sports and dance as well as playing outside, using large play equipment and joining in with playground games.”
  • “Activities are varied and engage children in a range of rich learning opportunities.”
  • “Staff are enthusiastic play partners. They join in with children's games and activities, providing suggestions and asking skilful questions that encourage children to think and solve problems.”

And finally, lots of parents sung our praises to the inspector.

  • “Parents speak highly about the camp and the professional way in which it is run. They say they feel their children are safe and secure in the staff's care.”
