Welcome to our first ‘Meet the Staff’ blog post for 2019/2020. We are incredibly lucky to have such an amazing staff team at our summer camps and thought you might like to get to know them!

Today we are catching up with Ali from XUK Activity, India from XUK English and Adam from XUK Excel...

Where are you from originally?

Ali: “Northamptonshire, UK.”

India: “Rutland, UK.”

Adam: “Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.”

Where do you live now?

Ali: “Worcestershire, UK.”

India: “Leeds, UK.”

Adam: “Seville, Spain”

What do you do in life?

Ali: “I’ve just finished 3 year of ballet training at the School of Ballet Theatre UK.”

India: “I study Art & Design at Leeds.”

Adam: “I teach English in Spain.”

What are your hobbies?

Ali: “Drawing, painting & walking.”

India: “Yoga, reading, theatre, swimming and travelling.”

Adam: “Reading, cooking, learning languages.”

What is your role at camp & how many years have you worked?

Ali: “I’m a Pastoral & Activity Leader. It’s my second year.”

India: “This is my first year as a Pastoral & Activity Leader.”

Adam: “It’s my first year as an English Teacher.”

Tell us about your favourite moment from the summer:

Ali: “The Colour War relay as it included the whole camp having fun together.”

India: “I loved the Mario Kart evening activity!”

Adam:Colour War Capture the Flag – throwing powder paint on everyone.”

What do you love the most about XUK?

Ali: “The friendly atmosphere.”

India: “My colleagues.”

Adam: “The sense of community.”

What do you miss about XUK now that camp is over?

Ali: “Working with such an amazing staff team.”

India: “My colleagues and seeing the difference we made to the kids.”

Adam: “The kids, the staff and the banoffee pie in the dining hall.”

Why should kids & teens come to XUK next year?

Ali: “Because they will make great friends and a lifetime of memories.”

India: “To make friends and have lots of fun without their phones.”

Adam: “It’s a great way to experience the British culture whilst having fun!”

What advice would you give to a new member of staff?

Ali: “Never be afraid to ask if you are unsure, everyone is happy and helps each other.”

India: “Try everything, remember to enjoy everything and listen.”

Adam: “To be prepared for the most tiring job you’ll ever love. Also, don’t lose children!”
