Happy X(UK)mas

Can you believe that it is almost Christmas? It seems like only yesterday we were in July and our day and residential camps were beginning. The temperature is certainly a bit different from the summer; the thought of a Wet ‘n’ Wild day right now sends chills down our spines!

After some reflecting, we have realised there are some similarities between camp and Christmas! What do our camps and Christmas have in common?

Singing

In the words of Buddy the Elf, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” We love singing at our camps and singing Christmas carols is a big part of Christmas in the UK! UK School children will sing Christmas carols in assemblies at school, some families might attend a carol service at their local church and you might even be lucky enough to have some carol singers turn up at your front door.

Here are some Christmas songs you might like to learn with your family:

  • The Twelve Days of Christmas
  • We wish you a merry Christmas
  • White Christmas
  • Jingle Bells

Dressing Up

Our campers and staff team love getting dressed up during the summer, whether that is for themed afternoons, Colour Wars or our weekly Talent Show & Disco! Christmas gives you lots of opportunities to dress up too. You might have a Christmas jumper day at school or in your office, there will be lots of Christmas parties, your local part might host a Santa dash and if your school has a Christmas nativity, you might have to dress up as a character!

Crafts

Craft activities are very popular at all of our camps. Do not just save your creative juices for the summer, let them flow this winter too. It can be so cold around Christmas time, you might be tempted to stay inside, so use the time wisely and make some Christmas crafts with your family. We have lots of fantastic ideas on Pinterest for you to use! Lots of the crafts also make fabulous Christmas gifts!

Friends & Family

You would have come away from our camps feeling like you have a second family, your XUK family. We are counting down the days until we can be reunited at camp once again. In the meantime, we get to spend time with our friends and family over the festive period! You’ll be spending lots of quality time together, having fun, playing games and maybe watching some Christmas movies. We can recommend:

  • Elf
  • Nativity
  • The Grinch

Let us know what your favourite Christmas movies are!

Happy Holidays and here’s to an amazing 2018...
