What's happening in the world of XUK Camps?

With just 84 days to go until summer begins, things are starting to get busy in the world of XUK Camps. In September we told you what our plans were for the next few months and we are definitely overdue an update. "What have we been doing?" We hear you ask.

Camper Applications

The 1st November marked the day when we started taking bookings for Summer 2018 at our residential camps. They have been flying in ever since and some weeks are already fully booked at our camps! We love the fact that so many of you are returning for another summer at XUK. Will we be handing out anymore certificates to campers who are on their tenth summer with us this year? There will be lots of new faces welcomed into the XUK family this summer too – we know you are going to have the summer of your life!

Staff Applications & Interviews

Our camps would not be able to run without our fabulous staff teams. We are very lucky to have so many returning staff each year but sometimes our staff have to go into the real world and get full time jobs meaning we have positions for new, talented staff to become part of the family. We have received hundreds of applications since November and have met lots of lovely places at our interviews. So far, we have held three group interview sessions and have four remaining. If you know somebody who might be interested still, send them our way. Also, keep an eye on our XUK Jobs Facebook page, we will keep you up to date with key positions available on there!

City Visits

January, February and March were busy months for us. We visited lots of amazing cities including Paris, Madrid and Rome. Annie and Rachael tried snails for the first time in Paris – you’ll have to ask them what they thought of the taste! Although we had a little bit of time to sightsee, the main purpose of our visits was to meet past, present and future campers and their families. Putting your children on a plane to spend a few weeks at a camp can be very daunting for parents. We like to be able to meet you in person to reassure you, answer your questions and tell you all about our activity camps and summer school.

Working through your feedback

Your feedback is so important to us and we like to make sure our camps get better and better every summer! At the end of the summer, our campers, their families and our staff respond to our questionnaires which helps us work out how we can improve our camps. Throughout the year, we work through your feedback, ensuring everything is in place ready for the following summer. We’ve come up with new activity ideas to freshen things up, restructured our London trip and liaised with our venues to ensure you love every meal you eat again next summer!

Easter Day Camps

We have just finished our Easter Day Camps which are held in North London. It was a very successful two weeks and we have received brilliant feedback! Every day we welcomed lots of children age 3 – 13 to our camp for a fun filled day of activities. 99% of the campers come from the local area but we have also got some families who have travelled from around Europe to help their children develop their English in an English speaking environment. We even gave our 7 – 13s group a taste of Evening Activities at our residential camps by organising a ‘Cool Runnings’ morning for them – they had an absolute blast!

And there you have it, watch this space to see what we are up to between now and camp starting... Don’t forget, to follow us on Instagram for regular updates on our story!
