How to Run a Holiday Camp

It is our 20th year running holiday camps for children of all ages, and what better to mark the occasion than to blog about ‘how to run a holiday camp’! With 20 years’ experience we consider ourselves experts in the field. We currently run XUK Activity and XUK English every summer and Cross Keys and Mini Minors day camps most school holidays.

What makes us different from other holiday camps is our friendly, family atmosphere and our passion for providing children with fun opportunities during the school holidays. We love welcoming new and returning faces to our holiday camps for weeks of endless fun!

Now you ask, how do you run a holiday camp? Well we have picked 5 things that we think is important in running a holiday camp.

Theme

The first thing you must consider about a holiday camp is the theme. We provide multi-activity camps (XUK Activity, XUK English and Mini Minors and XUK Day Camp) and a specialised holiday camp called Cross Keys Day Camp. Cross Keys provides children aged 6-13 with the choice to specialise in either art, drama or sport. For one week these children will become artists, actors/actresses and sport stars and participate in the activities that they love! At our multi-activity camps we provide a range of activities, from arts to crafts to drama to sports and action adventure! Children will do something different every day!

Location

The location of a holiday camp is very important. In particular our children love to escape the busy city and take a break in the countryside! XUK Activity holiday camp takes place in a boarding school in Norfolk with fantastic facilities, including quad bike tracks, tennis and basketball courts and huge sports fields! Our English summer school is situated in Ipswich on beautiful grounds. Our excellent teaching facilities at XUK English provide children with the perfect opportunity to learn English!

We believe that our staff make our camps and this is one of the main reasons why children continually return to our holiday camps! Our staff are enthusiastic, experienced and are passionate about making your children’s stay at our holiday camps exceptional!

Activities

If your children love adventure, action, sports, arts and drama, they will definitely love our day and summer holiday camps! Our activities are the highlight at XUK Activity residential camp. There is something for everyone and a chance to experience new activities! Your children are able to choose what they would like to do; whether it is yoga, dance or even multi-sports! If your child fancies something different, we offer optional extras! Maybe laser quest, go-karting or a driving lesson is something they would like to try?
